Prien am Chiemsee is a market town in the district of Rosenheim and is located approx. 90 km south-east of Munich. With over 10,000 inhabitants, Prien is the largest of the lakeside communities.
Since the opening of the Rosenheim-Salzburg railroad line in 1860, Prien has been a popular vacation destination and even today the municipality impresses with its beautiful natural surroundings, boat trips, hiking and cycling trails and a wide range of spa facilities.
Prien is also a place worth living in away from the tourist hotspots. The municipality has its own kindergartens, elementary school and several secondary schools, as well as a wide range of restaurants and a lively club scene. The town is also home to many specialized clinics.
The bus network in Prien and the surrounding villages is well developed and you can quickly reach Rosenheim or the A8 motorway by car. The train station in Prien is served by hourly Meridian trains to Munich or Salzburg, regional trains and even steam trains to the surrounding villages in summer.
