Markt Schwaben is located 26 km east of Munich (center) and is part of the Ebersberg district. The history of Markt Schwaben can be traced back to the 12th century, when the place was given the name Suaben by Alemannic settlers.

Around the Eisenberger Straße and the church St. Margaret there is a village center which is still picturesquely preserved in many places. Markt Schwaben has a railway station where numerous local trains stop to reach destinations throughout Bavaria. In addition, Markt Schwaben is connected to the Munich S-Bahn network via the S2, so the city centre can be reached within 30 minutes.
With the construction of the railway lines Munich-Mühldorf and Markt Schwaben-Erding in the 19th century, a period of rapid population growth began.
