Munich's main train station, the city's central hub for national and international connections, can also be found in Ludwigsvorstadt. It is supplemented by the central bus station at Hackerbrücke, only one S-Bahn stop from the main station. Here you can also find numerous stores, restaurants, and even a club. Aside from the many buildings of the teaching hospitals between Goetheplatz and Sendlinger Tor, this high density area consists of older, partly very beautiful, multi-story residential and office buildings. Especially during the Oktoberfest, this usually rather quiet area is crawling with visitors. However, nearby Theresienwiese is also worth a visit outside of the main events, with various flea markets and smaller events taking place throughout the year. Furthermore, Theresienwiese is home to the Bavaria statue, the symbolic personification of Bavaria, which you can even enter during the day. Ludwigvorstadt's proximity to the city center, as well as the large variety of cinemas, museums, theaters, and especially restaurants, make up for its lack of green spaces. This neighborhood is particularly popular among the younger crowd and business people.
The dense development of Ludwigsvorstadt consists mostly of multi-story, often beautiful, old residential and office buildings. Therefore, there are many apartments in a central location and the district is one of the most popular residential areas. Should you not find what you are looking for here, then it is worth taking a look at the neighboring districts of Schwanthalerhöhe, Isarvorstadt and the old town - the center of Munich.
