The beautiful lake Echinger See, as well as the future Echinger Therme on Hollerner See, an ambitious construction project which will be realized in the coming years, provide opportunities for recreation. The motorway separates the large industrial area from the residential part of the neighborhood. The A9 and A92 provide access to long-distance travel, while the S1 connects to Munich's city center and the surrounding area.
Meanwhile the municipality has almost 13,000 inhabitants. The village has been able to retain its rural character for the most part. Besides some newer multi-story residential buildings, partly with furnished apartments, there are mainly single-family houses and still managed farmsteads, as well as many smaller churches and picturesque chapels, which are listed as historical monuments.
