West of Isarvorstadt, there are several university hospitals, as well as large residential- and office buildings. In the south, lies the "Schlachthof", and to east the "Isarauen", the banks of the river Isar, with the Museum Island and the striking buildings housing the European Patent Office. Apart from the quiet side streets, you can find some of the busiest streets of Munich and the most popular nightlife venues. The U-Bahn station Fraunhoferstraße (U1/U2) and Goetheplatz (U6/U3) as well as the S-Bahn station Isartor connect the district with other districts and destinations of Munich and its region.
The proximity to the various local recreation areas along the Isar river make this district attractive for those looking for some peace and quiet in the center of Munich.
