Despite the quiet location on the outskirts of Munich, Untermenzing is well-connected to public transport: The S-Bahn station of the line S2 connects the quarter to both the city center and the more distant suburbs. The nearby motorway junction Munich-West provides easy access to long-distance transport.
The district has retained some of its village-like appearance in places, which contributes to a comparatively quiet residential area. Especially the parts of Untermenzing west of the Würm are among the upscale residential areas in Munich. The development in this district, which still has a rural appearance in parts, consists mainly of single-family homes of varying quality with smaller gardens. In the west, the development becomes more relaxed with larger green spaces. There are similarly beautiful apartments in Allach, Obermenzing and Pasing.
