The village was founded in the 11th century. For a long time, Brunnthal was characterized by agriculture. It was not until the construction of the Munich-Salzburg highway and the end of the Second World War that the number of inhabitants increased significantly.
Its proximity to Munich and the A8 and A99 highways make Brunnthal an attractive business location. But families also appreciate the town, thanks to the numerous childcare facilities, elementary school and secondary schools in the neighboring towns.
Today, the municipality has a well-developed infrastructure in the town and its own industrial estate, Brunnthal Nord. Several regional MVV bus routes run in the town and provide connections to Munich and neighboring regions.
