In contrast to the new development area of Neuperlach, the name Altperlach refers to the older residential area of the historic community of Perlach. The Pfanzeltplatz with the church St. Michael marks the old center of Perlach. The former village center, whose buildings are now mainly used for commercial purposes, is surrounded by newer, partly also cooperative residential complexes.

Due to its central location in Ramersdorf-Perlach, Altperlach offers a wide range of housing options: from detached houses to high-rise housing complexes. The Ostpark and the landscape park Hachinger Tal are the local recreation areas of Altperlach and also outside the district larger forest and open spaces invite you to relax. Furthermore, one of Munich's largest outdoor pool, Michaelibad, is located nearby. While the quarter is not one of Munich's most central, its connection to the city center is nonetheless quick and easy: The main connection to public transport is provided by the suburban train station Perlach (S7), which allows you to reach both the city center and the outskirts in a matter of minutes. The U-Bahn stations Neuperlach Zentrum and Therese-Giehse-Allee (both U5) connect the district to Munich's U-Bahn network.
