7 tips to avoid mold and moisture damage in your apartment
Especially in the cold season the apartments are vulnerable to moisture damage. Not only can this be expensive, but it may also affect your health. To avoid this, we have put together 7 tips for you:
1. Open all windows wide in the mornings and evenings and dry glass panes and window sills
Open all windows at the same time for about 2-3 minutes to ensure good air ventilation. Please do not just tilt the windows, as this will not allow proper air exchange and moisture will remain in the apartment. If glass panes and window sills are damp, please dry them.
2. Do not cover or conceal radiators
The room temperature in the living area should be between 18 and 22°C.
To make sure that the heaters can work properly, please do not cover them with curtains or furniture.
3. Keep a gap between furniture and external wall
Allow some space between the outside wall and furniture so that the warm indoor air can circulate properly in this area and the outside walls do not become too cold.
4. Take off wet shoes in the entrance area
Please take off wet shoes in the entrance area, so that the floor in the apartment does not get damp and causes damages.
5. Do not open the dishwasher immediately
Do not open the dishwasher right after it finished the program. Keep it closed for at least 30 minutes, so that the steam can settle in the machine and does not escape into the apartment.
6. Turn on the extractor hood while cooking
Always turn on the extractor hood while cooking and ventilate afterwards by opening the windows wide.
7. Ventilate thoroughly after showering
Check the vents in bathroom for proper function. Ventilate thoroughly after each shower and dry tiles and glass partitions properly.
